travellers on international flights to India need to know" />
With countries tightening travel guidelines following the detection of new COVID-19 variant Omicron, it is now mandatory for international travellers to India to register their details on the Air Suvidha portal before they arrive. If you are concerned about the ease of your travel plans and don’t want any last-minute surprises, make sure to register on the portal before you leave for the airport. Here is everything you need to know about downloading, filling and submitting the Air Suvidha form for a smooth experience.
Air Suvidha is an online self-declaration of a passenger's current health status and recent travel details. Submission of the form is a mandatory contactless procedure initiated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport.
All international travellers flying into India are required to fill the form and submit it any time before boarding their flight. A passenger on an international flight landing at any airport in the country should possess a copy of the self-declaration. All exemptions to this requirement have been discontinued in light of the emergent Omicron variant.
The form, available on the official New Delhi Airport website, requires passengers to fill in the following details:
While filling the form, travellers need to upload a copy of their passport, a negative RT-PCR certificate of a test conducted no more than 72 hours before departure, and a vaccination certificate. These documents are only accepted in PDF format. The size of these files need to be less than 1 MB and the file names cannot have any special characters except a hyphen or an underscore. So if possible, fill and submit the application a few hours before reaching the airport for your flight, to avoid last-minute delays and ensure a hassle-free takeoff.
Once you hit “Submit”, the form is sent to the Airport Health Organization (APHO). A PDF document of the application is sent to the passenger’s email address. This PDF needs to be presented at the APHO counter of the airport upon arrival in India.
In case you’re filling the form on your phone at the airport, you might need an app that will compress documents of larger file size within minutes. Use PDF Compressor for iOS and Compress PDF for Android. Also remember that apart from the portal only accepting PDFs that are less than 1mb in size, the file names cannot have any special characters except a hyphen or an underscore.
